How to use Gradients for Photoshop
- Open a new or existing document in Photoshop.
- Select the Gradient tool from the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen. You can also press the letter “G” on your keyboard to quickly select the Gradient tool.
- In the options bar at the top of the screen, click on the gradient preview to open the Gradient Editor.
- Choose a preset gradient from the options available, or create your own custom gradient by clicking on the color stops and adjusting the colors.
- Once you have selected your gradient, choose the type of gradient you want to use from the Gradient Type dropdown menu. The available options are Linear, Radial, Angle, Reflected, and Diamond.
- Use the Gradient tool to apply the gradient to your image. Click and drag on the canvas to apply the gradient in the direction you want.
- You can also adjust the opacity and blending mode of the gradient layer in the Layers panel to create different effects.
- To save your gradient for future use, click on the dropdown menu in the Gradient Editor and select “Save Gradient.”
