How to Use Photoshop Overlays in Photoshop
Photoshop overlays are images or textures that are placed on top of a photo to enhance or modify it. Here’s how to use overlays in Photoshop:
- Open the photo you want to add an overlay to in Photoshop.
- Choose the overlay image you want to use and open it in Photoshop.
- Drag the overlay image onto your photo. It will appear as a new layer above your photo layer.
- Resize the overlay image to fit your photo by selecting the Move tool (shortcut: V), clicking on the overlay layer, and using the transform handles to adjust its size and position.
- Adjust the opacity of the overlay layer to make it more transparent if needed. You can do this by adjusting the Opacity slider in the Layers panel, located on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Blend the overlay with the photo using blending modes. Click on the Blend Mode dropdown in the Layers panel and experiment with different blending modes until you find one that works well.
- Apply layer masks to the overlay layer to control which parts of the overlay are visible. Use the Brush tool (shortcut: B) with black or white color to paint on the layer mask to show or hide parts of the overlay.
- Save your edited photo by going to File > Save or File > Save As.
By following these steps, you can easily use overlays in Photoshop to create stunning and unique images.
