How to Use Photo Overlays in Photoshop
Using overlays in Photoshop can add creative elements and effects to your images. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use overlays in Photoshop:
- Open Photoshop: Launch Adobe Photoshop on your computer.
- Open your image: Go to “File” > “Open” and select the image you want to apply the overlay to. The image will open in Photoshop.
- Import the overlay: Go to “File” > “Open” or drag and drop the overlay file into the Photoshop canvas. The overlay will open as a new document or layer in Photoshop.
- Copy the overlay: In the overlay document, press “Ctrl/Command+A” to select the entire canvas, then “Ctrl/Command+C” to copy the overlay.
- Paste the overlay: Go back to your main image document and press “Ctrl/Command+V” to paste the overlay onto a new layer.
- Position and resize the overlay: Use the Move Tool (shortcut: V) to position the overlay on your image. You can also resize it by going to “Edit” > “Free Transform” or by pressing “Ctrl/Command+T” to activate the transform controls. Hold down the Shift key while resizing to maintain the aspect ratio.
Remember to experiment with different overlays, blending modes, and adjustments to achieve your desired creative effect.
