How to use Overlay in Photoshop
To use Overlay in Photoshop, follow these steps:
- Open your image in Photoshop.
- Create a new layer by clicking on the “New Layer” icon in the Layers panel.
- Fill the new layer with a solid color by selecting the Paint Bucket tool and choosing a color from the Color Picker.
- Change the blending mode of the new layer to “Overlay” by selecting “Overlay” from the drop-down menu in the Layers panel.
- Adjust the opacity of the Overlay layer as desired using the opacity slider in the Layers panel.
- If you want to apply the Overlay effect to only a specific part of your image, use the selection tools to select the area and then apply the Overlay layer to the selected area only.
Note that Overlay blending mode creates a mix between the original layer and the Overlay layer based on the brightness values of each pixel. The darker the pixel, the more of the Overlay layer will be visible. The lighter the pixel, the more of the original layer will be visible.
